Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu | Day at Leisure
Welcome to Kathmandu! Upon your arrival at the airport, get driven to your hotel. Post check-in, spend the rest of your day at leisure, where you can visit the Kopan Monastery, renowned for its calming ambiance and picturesque gardens. Also, you can visit the Narayanhiti Palace, the former royal residence turned museum, and admire its stunning architecture. Later, you can soak-in the vibrant atmosphere of Indra Chowk, a bustling market filled with shops, before returning to your hotel.
Day 2
Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour
In the morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. Start with a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that showcases a blend of pagoda-style temples, intricate wood carvings, and royal palaces of the Malla kings. Next, visit the Kumari House, home a living goddess, the Royal Kumari and admire the Buddhist architecture of the Golden Temple (Hiranya Varna Mahavihar). Also, admire the exquisite stone carvings of Krishna Mandir before getting driven to your hotel.
Day 3
Half-Day Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | Day at Leisure
Today, begin your sightseeing tour with a visit to the Boudhanath Stupa, known for its stunning white dome. Next, visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, one of Hinduism's holiest sites, where you can witness rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva along the Bagmati River. Later, explore the Bhaktapur District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its medieval architecture, including the 55-Window Palace and Vatsala Temple. Later, get driven back to your hotel & spend the rest of your day at leisure.
Day 4
Flight to Paro | Transfer to Thimphu | Day at Lesiure
Check-out and get transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight to Paro. Upon arrival in Paro, enjoy a scenic drive to Thimphu. Once in Thimphu, check-in to your hotel & spend the rest of your day at leisure. You can visit the Changangkha Lhakhang, a historic temple offering panoramic views of Thimphu Valley & the surrounding mountains. Also, you can visit Simply Bhutan, an interactive museum that showcases traditional culture, crafts, & daily life. Later, return to your hotel.
Day 5
Thimphu Sightseeing Tour | Transfer to Punakha
Post check-out, board your transfer for a sightseeing tour of Thimphu. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, a stunningly crafted stupa honoring Bhutan’s third king. Next, visit Tashichho Dzong and admire its striking white walls with ornate roofs. Also, explore the National Library, housing ancient Bhutanese manuscripts and texts that provide insight into the country’s rich cultural heritage. After an amazing day, get driven to Punakha. Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 6
Punakha Sightseeing Tour | Transfer to Paro | Paro Sightseeing Tour
Today, after check-out, explore Punakha. Visit the stunning Punakha Dzong, set at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Also, admire its intricate architecture and head to explore Chimi Lhakhang, a temple steeped in local folklore. Later, begin your journey towards Paro & make a stop at the Dochula Pass for amazing views of the Himalayas on the way. Once in Paro, visit the iconic National Museum and explore Drukgyal Dzong, a historic fortress, before checking in to your hotel.
Day 7
Hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery
Today, visit the Ta Dzong, once a watchtower, now Bhutan's National Museum, showcasing the nation’s rich cultural history through traditional artifacts. Next, marvel at the intricate woodwork of Rinpung Dzong, reflecting Bhutanese craftsmanship. Then, begin a memorable hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), perched on cliff. Upon reaching the top, explore its sacred meditation caves and admire vibrant murals dedicated to Guru Rinpoche. Later, descend the trail & get driven to your hotel.
Day 8
Departure Day
In the morning, get ready and check-out from your hotel in Paro. Then, board your transfer and get driven to Paro International Airport for your flight back home. This marks the end of your amazing Nepal and Bhutan trip!

Know Before You Go

- Ask your local guide to help you purchase a SIM on arrival, as Bhutan supports 2 networks: B-Mobile SIM and TashiCell.
- Images are for representation purpose only.
- ID Proof is mandatory for each individual guest at the time of booking, and upon arrival. PAN Card will not be considered as a valid identity proof. All foreign nationals must carry their passport as a proof of identity.
- Indians must pay the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of Rs 1200 per person/per night in Bhutan. Children below 5 years are exempted from SDF, while kids between 6 and 12 years of age, will get 50% concession.
- To obtain entry in Bhutan, Indian tourists must carry their passports with a minimum 6 months validity and make the payment of SDF.
- Plastic has been banned since 1999 in Bhutan, therefore, it is advised to carry plastic/plastic items.
- Keep your arms and legs covered while visiting a Dzong (fortress-monastery).
- Ask for permission from the attending authority before taking any photos or videos inside places like monasteries.
- In Bhutan, Tuesday is ‘Dry Day’. This means locals don’t drink alcohol on Tuesday. So it would be respectful to avoid alcohol on Tuesdays too.
- It’s illegal for tobacco to be sold in Bhutan. Tourists can bring cigarettes into the country, but can only smoke them in designated places.
- Bhutan does not have a micro (or nano) SIM card. So check your mobile device for SIM compatibility before visiting Bhutan.
- Credit cards are widely accepted in major cities and tourist areas. However, it is recommended to carry some cash.
- The official currency in Bhutan is the Bhutanese Ngultrum (BTN) and for Nepal it is Nepalese Rupee (NPR). It is advisable to exchange currency at banks or authorised exchange bureaus.
- In cases of force majeure events (e.g., natural disasters, political unrest, or other unforeseeable circumstances), [Vacation Kart] reserves the right to reschedule tours & treks or offer alternative itineraries to ensure the safety and well-being of clients and staff.
